DEEPMETA 3 - USER GUIDE - SYNC
Attention
DeepMeta 3 is no longer supported. Please consider moving to the online DeepMeta 4, that runs in the browser.
For details, please check out the blog post: Announcing DeepMeta 4
We will do our best to provide maintenance updates, as long as our development tools allow.
Sync
Local data
To work as independently as possible, DeepMeta uses a small local database on your computer to keep track of your Getty Images portfolio. The idea is that you can prepare your uploads locally and once ready, have all or a part of them autonomously uploaded to the Getty ESP/Contribute servers.
Sync
The DeepMeta Sync ("synchronization") functionality is located in the "Sync" section:

Syncing is mostly one-way: from the ESP server to your local system. However, you can enable the option "Send local changes to ESP server" to sync any local changes you made to files already uploaded (but not yet submitted) to the Getty server.
Click the 'Start sync' button to start the process. Following items will be downloaded from the ESP server:
Batches
All batches and their current status and counts (number of files pending, accepted, revisable and rejected).
Files
All files in these batches. If the file is already present locally in DeepMeta, the information is updated.
Reviews
All reviews, providing information when files were accepted, as well as any revision or rejection notes from the inspectors.
Thumbnails
The thumbnails for all files. Note that these are fetched by a separate process, so these downloads continue in the background, even after the sync is done.
Performance Note: The initial sync process may take some time, depending on the number and size of your ESP batches, but following sync operations should be relatively quick. You can launch a sync any time you like, e.g. to see whether any of your uploads have been accepted or require revisions.
Sync Features
One-Way Synchronization
Sync is primarily one-way from ESP server to your local DeepMeta database, ensuring your local data stays current with the server state.
Local Changes Upload
Enable "Send local changes to ESP server" to sync metadata changes you made locally to files that are uploaded but not yet submitted.
Background Processing
Thumbnail downloads continue in the background after sync completion, allowing you to work while images are being retrieved.
Regular Sync Recommended
Run sync regularly to stay updated on file acceptance status, revision requests, and inspector feedback.
Attention
Important: Releases are currently not downloaded from the Getty servers.
Sync Best Practices
Before Starting Work
Run a sync when you start DeepMeta to ensure you have the latest information about your files and batches.
After Uploads
Sync after uploading files to check for immediate feedback or status changes from the Getty ESP servers.
Regular Maintenance
Perform regular syncs to stay informed about review results, acceptance notifications, and revision requests.
Network Considerations
Initial sync may be slower due to large data transfer. Subsequent syncs are incremental and much faster.
