Installation
How do I install DeepMeta on Windows?
Download the latest Windows version from the official DeepMeta website, unzip if needed, and double-click the installer. The installation wizard will guide you through selecting a destination folder. Windows will show a User Account Control dialog - click 'Yes' to proceed. The installer is digitally signed by Eazign bvba for security verification.
How do I install DeepMeta on macOS?
Download the Mac version from the official website. The file is typically named 'DeepMetaMac-x.x.x.pkg'. Double-click this file to launch the installer and follow the on-screen instructions. DeepMeta will be installed in your Applications folder and can be launched like any other macOS application.
Do I need to uninstall an older version before upgrading?
No, there's no need to uninstall earlier versions of DeepMeta. The new version will automatically handle the upgrade process if its version number is higher than the currently installed version.
Login & Access
How do I set up my Getty Images login in DeepMeta?
In DeepMeta, navigate to the Login section and enter your Getty Images ESP (Editorial Submission Portal) credentials. These are the same username and password you use to access esp.gettyimages.com. Make sure your credentials are correct and that you have an active contributor account.
Why do I get '403 Forbidden: no access rights' when creating a batch?
This error typically occurs when trying to create a batch for content types that don't match your contributor status. For example, some briefs are exclusive to Getty Images exclusive contributors, or you might be trying to upload video content without video upload rights. Check your contributor agreement and exclusivity status.
Sync
What does the Sync function do?
The Sync function connects to Getty Images servers to download your latest portfolio information, including uploaded files, keywords, sales data, and briefs. It keeps your local DeepMeta database up-to-date with your online Getty Images account. Regular syncing ensures you have the most current data for analysis and management.
How often should I sync with Getty Images?
It's recommended to sync regularly, especially after uploading new content or when you want to see updated sales information. Many contributors sync daily or weekly. The first sync will take longer as it downloads your entire portfolio, but subsequent syncs are much faster as they only update changes.
What is included in the sync process?
The sync process can include: your uploaded files and their metadata, keywords and descriptions, sales and royalty data, briefs (both Creative and Custom Content), review status updates, and portfolio statistics. You can choose which elements to sync in the sync settings.
Files
What file formats does DeepMeta support?
DeepMeta supports all major image formats accepted by Getty Images, including JPEG, PNG, and TIFF for photos and illustrations. For video content, it supports MP4, MOV, and other standard video formats. The software can handle both RGB and CMYK color spaces for images.
How do I import files into DeepMeta?
You can import files by dragging and dropping them directly onto the DeepMeta window, or by using the Import button in the Files section. DeepMeta will read the file metadata and allow you to add keywords, descriptions, and other required information before uploading to Getty Images.
Can I edit file metadata in DeepMeta?
Yes, DeepMeta provides comprehensive metadata editing capabilities. You can modify titles, descriptions, keywords, categories, and other metadata fields. The software also supports batch editing, allowing you to apply changes to multiple files simultaneously.
Batches
What are batches and why should I use them?
Batches are collections of files that you submit together to Getty Images. Using batches helps organize your submissions, makes it easier to track the review process, and allows you to group related content. You can create batches for specific themes, shoots, or brief submissions.
How many files can I include in a batch?
Getty Images has specific limits on batch sizes, which can vary based on your contributor level and content type. Generally, it's recommended to keep batches to a manageable size (typically 25-100 files) to make the review process more efficient and easier to track.
Can I create batches for briefs?
Yes, DeepMeta supports creating batches specifically for Getty Images briefs. When you find a brief you want to participate in, you can create a dedicated batch that automatically includes the brief code and relevant keywords, ensuring your submission meets the brief requirements.
Keywording
How does the keyword suggestion feature work?
DeepMeta analyzes your images and provides keyword suggestions based on visual content analysis and Getty Images' keyword database. The suggestions help ensure your content is properly tagged with relevant, searchable terms that buyers are likely to use.
Why are my keyword suggestions in mixed languages?
This can happen if your system language settings are mixed or if the image analysis detects content that triggers keywords in different languages. Check your language preferences in DeepMeta settings and ensure your system locale is set correctly.
How can I reorder or sort keywords?
In DeepMeta, you can drag and drop keywords to reorder them by importance. The most relevant keywords should be placed first, as they have more weight in Getty Images' search algorithm. You can also sort alphabetically or by relevance using the keyword management tools.
Briefs
Does DeepMeta support Creative and Custom Content briefs?
Yes, DeepMeta fully supports both Creative Briefs (open to various contributor levels) and Custom Content Briefs (exclusive contributors only). The software automatically fetches current briefs during sync and helps you create appropriately tagged batches for brief submissions.
How do I find and participate in briefs?
Navigate to the Briefs section in DeepMeta after syncing with Getty Images. You'll see available briefs with their requirements, deadlines, and eligibility criteria. Click on a brief to read the full requirements, then use the 'Create Batch' button to start a submission for that brief.
What happens to expired briefs?
DeepMeta automatically removes expired briefs during each sync operation to keep your briefs list current. Briefs that have passed their deadline are marked as 'Closed' and you cannot create new batches for them.
Statements & Sales
How do I download my royalty statements?
From DeepMeta v3.23 onwards, you need to manually download royalty statements from the Getty ESP website. Log into esp.gettyimages.com, go to Account Management > Royalties, select Export, choose your date range and 'All contracts', select TXT format, and download both regular and Connect transaction files.
How do I import royalty statements into DeepMeta?
After downloading the TXT files from Getty ESP, you can import them by dragging and dropping the files onto the DeepMeta window, or by using the Import button in the Statements section. DeepMeta will process both regular and Connect transaction files.
What's the difference between regular and Connect transactions?
Regular transactions are standard Getty Images sales through their main platform. Connect transactions are sales through Getty Images' API and partner network. Both types are important for complete revenue tracking and should be downloaded and imported separately.
Upload
How do I upload files to Getty Images through DeepMeta?
After preparing your batch with properly keyworded files, select the batch in DeepMeta and click the Upload button. DeepMeta will handle the transfer to Getty Images servers, including all metadata, keywords, and file data. You can monitor upload progress and any error messages.
What happens if an upload fails?
DeepMeta provides detailed error messages for failed uploads. Common issues include file size problems, metadata errors, or connectivity issues. You can retry failed uploads after addressing the underlying problem. The software tracks which files uploaded successfully and which need attention.
Reviews
How can I track the review status of my submissions?
The Reviews section in DeepMeta shows the status of all your submitted batches and individual files. After syncing, you'll see updates on which files are under review, accepted, or need revision. This helps you track your portfolio's progress through Getty's review process.
Statistics
What kind of statistics does DeepMeta provide?
DeepMeta offers comprehensive statistics including upload performance, acceptance rates, sales data, revenue tracking, and portfolio analytics. You can view trends over time, compare performance across different content types, and identify your best-performing content.
Local Data
How do I clear the local DeepMeta database and why would I want to do that?
DeepMeta uses a local database to store a copy of all data retrieved from the Getty Images server for your account, as well as any local changes you make to your files. The only reason you'd ever want to clear this database is in cases where it may have become corrupt. If you think this is the case, contact support and we'll evaluate. To clear the local database: in the DeepMeta 'Preferences' window, select the 'Advanced' tab. Then click the link/button 'Clear local DeepMeta database' in the 'System Info' section, and confirm. IMPORTANT: By clearing the database, you lose any local changes you've done in DeepMeta, along with Model/Property release data, not-yet-uploaded files, etc. After clearing the database, start a Sync, which will re-fetch your data from the Getty Images server..
Troubleshooting
What should I do if DeepMeta won't connect to Getty Images?
First, check your internet connection and verify your Getty Images credentials are correct. Ensure you're using your ESP login details, not your buyer account credentials. Check if Getty's servers are accessible by visiting esp.gettyimages.com directly. If problems persist, check for software updates or contact support.
