What is the iStockphoto API ?

  • Every external (3rd party) application that exchanges information with the iStockphoto servers, needs to use a special service, called the iStockphoto API. This API is provided by iStockphoto, using a number of specialized servers, dedicated to communication with other computers. These servers don't host any web pages, but serve structured information for external applications.
  • Once again, iStockphoto proves to be pioneer not only in microstock bus also in Web 2.0, as it debuted its API in 2007, which was already a second and improved version of its first API.
  • DeepMeta makes extensive use of the iStockphoto API, and entirely relies on it. If you're having problems with DeepMeta, this is almost always caused by some (temporary) malfunctioning of the iStockphoto API. That's the reason why this API status section was created in the DeepMeta web site.
  • With this section we hope to provide up-to-date status info about the API, providing DeepMeta users to understand and follow-up on any ongoing API issues, as well as provide iStockphoto Developers with detailed reports on what exactly is going wrong, when it started, and how often the problems occur.
