communicate with iStockphoto

Switch to Mac OSX version
  • In the main DeepMeta window, click the "iStockphoto" tab.
  • This page contains all functionality for communicating with the iStockphoto site.

Exchange with iStockphoto

  • The Fetch statistics button launches a fetch of all new images from iStockphoto, as well as all changes in the image title, statistics (downloads, views, royalties,...) and all new ratings. This function is also available from the main menu (iStockphoto menu item) or by pressing F5 on the keyboard.
  • The Fetch ALL data button has the same function, but will also refresh the description, all keywords and term mappings from iStockphoto. Only needed when the description or keywords have been changed on the site or with other image management software. This function is also available from the main menu (iStockphoto menu item) or by pressing CTRL-F6 on the keyboard.
  • The Send updates to iStockphoto updates all locally made changes to iStockphoto. This function is also available from the main menu (iStockphoto menu item) or by pressing F6 on the keyboard.

Available upload slots

  • A gauge meter shows how many slots you have in use at the moment.
  • Click the Refresh button to fetch your current upload limits and free slots from iStockphoto. This status is also updated automatically at the start of the program, and after each file upload to iStockphoto.

Available Vetta nominations

  • The "Available Vetta nominations" box shows the current number of nominations left. Click the Refresh button to force a fetch of your current nomination count from iStockphoto. This status is also updated automatically at the start of the program, and after each file upload to iStockphoto.
  • If you are not enrolled in the iStockphoto Vetta program, this box is disabled.

Upload interval

  • In the drop down list "Min. Upload Interval", select the desired minimum time interval between uploads of individual files.
  • You can use this to spread your uploads over a certain time. Select "Full speed" to disable this feature, and upload one file straight after the other, as long there are files in your upload queue and your available upload slots allow.

Left and Right Image lists

  • The left hand list, New, shows all new files, i.e. files which have not yet been uploaded.
  • If the "Errors" column reports one ore more errors, this means that not all image details have been completed. Those files cannot be moved to the Upload queue and need to be edited first.
  • Select the files you want to upload in the left hand list and click the > button to transfer them to the right hand Upload queue list. The files are added at the end of the Upload queue. This means that moving files between both lists allows you to control the order of your uploads This order will be kept, even after stopping and restarting DeepMeta.
  • You can add files to the queue individually or in group (use CTRL Click to select multiple files. Similarly, you can also move files from the Upload queue back to the left hand list.

Uploading

  • Click the Start uploads button to start uploading all files in the right hand Upload Queue, starting with the top one. If the image has model/property releases assigned, those will be automatically combined in 1 JPG file and uploaded along with the image.
  • Once the upload has started, click the Pause uploads button to stop uploading. Note that any current image upload will be finished and will not be aborted halfway its upload.
  • You have control over the time between each upload. By default, DeepMeta will upload all files in the upload queue as fast as it can. If you like, you can select a different upload interval from the drop-down list. Choosing e.g. a 1 hr interval means that DeepMeta will wait 1 hour between uploads. The first one will be sent immediately.
  • Note that you can switch to other sections of the program while uploading. All the uploads are done in the background for you, so you can keep editing other files at the same time.

Shut down

  • As the name suggests, when you Tick the box "Shut down computer when finished uploading", your PC will automatically shut down, as soon as the DeepMeta Upload Queue list is empty.
  • Attention: When you use this feature, always make sure you have no other programs or unsaved documents open!

History

  • The bottom of the iStockphoto window shows the History panel. Each Image and Release upload is reported in this panel, along with how long the upload took, the size of the uploaded file and the result of the action. If an error occured or a retry was required: here's where you'll find the details. Below an example where upload errors occured:
  • The content of the History panel are kept as long as DeepMeta is running. The list is cleared upon start up.
  • You can drag the horizontal separator line up or down as desired, giving more or less space to the History information. You can even drag the bar all the way down, to make the history list disappear, as shown in the image below:

Holiday mode

  • DeepMeta has a full-automatic Holiday mode, which works as follows:
    • DeepMeta checks the free upload slots before each upload.
    • If no more upload slots are available, it will check again every 30 minutes.
    • As soon as new slots become available, DeepMeta will simply continue uploading, until the slots are up again, etc...
  • This means you can fill your DeepMeta upload queue with lots of images, hit "Start uploads" and go on vacation ... DeepMeta will automatically upload the files at the desired time interval and will wait for available slots to continue. We call this the "DeepMeta Holiday mode". It is always enabled, you don't have to do anything.
