In the Image Details window, click the "Keywords" tab to bring up the keywords page for the file.
-
Because thinking up good and relevant keywords for your artwork is a creative process, DeepMeta aims to make this as easy
and streamlined as possible for you.
All keywords are shown in panels, arranged to efficiently use your monitor area,
needing as few clicks of a mouse as possible. There is one panel for each keyword (Tag): tick the check box for the
CV (Controlled Vocabulary) term that corresponds to the meaning of your keyword.
This is the same process as required at the iStock site.
It is called "disambiguation": clarifying the meaning of a word.
-
Panels are color-coded as follows:
-
Green panels: Active keywords, will be sent to iStockphoto.
-
Yellow panels: Inactive, will NOT be sent to iStockphoto. Click one or more appropriate check-boxes to assign the correct terms
to your keyword. The panel will turn green (active).
-
Gray panels: Deleted, will NOT be sent to iStockphoto. You can un-delete the keyword panel by clicking the red button with cross.
-
Blue panels: Unrecognized keywords. A blue panel is used for keywords which are not found in the iStockphoto CV (Controlled Vocabulary).
They are allowed and can be searched by buyers, but are not translated for non-English speaking customers.
-
Click the Add keywords button to pop up the dialog window where you can enter new keywords.
Separate keywords with a comma. When you click the OK button, DeepMeta will contact the iStockphoto
site to request the possible terms for all given keywords. These terms are fetched from the iStockphoto
CV (Controlled Vocabulary). The newly added keyword panels are marked with a star symbol:
so that they are easily recognized among any already existing keyword panels.
When you click any of the related check-boxes or click the star button itself, the keyword panel will no longer be marked as "new".
-
On the Add keywords panel, make sure to select the correct language, corresponding to the keywords you are entering.
This information is sent to the iStockphoto servers, which will use this info to derive the meaning of given keywords. Even for
UK English and US English, some words have a different meaning!
-
The current number of active keywords is shown at the top of the dialog window.
DeepMeta allows you to add as many keywords to your files as you wish, but only the first 50 will be sent to iStockphoto.
-
Use the Sort by name and Sort by status buttons to change the sorting order of the panels.
-
Use the Optimize button to remove all redundant keywords.
These are keywords whose selected terms are already present for other keywords.
Try it out, the deleted keywords will be shown in gray (disabled), and you can re-enable them if you like.
Attention: it only makes sense to use this button AFTER you have disambiguated your keywords for the file. In other words,
tick the appropriate check boxes for all of your keywords first!
The result of the optimization is that you have the exact same terms with less keywords. Only terms are searchable at the iStockphoto site,
not the keywords themselves.
-
A country/language flag symbol next to a keyword, means that the iStockphoto site has marked the keyword as being from that language.
